Ben is a novelist, with two books published to date, 'The Kraken's Curse" and, "Walking On Cinders".
Ben began by describing how he got into writing at school and how this led to his first novel. He described the steps he had to take to get published.
Although self-published, he mentioned that this is about the only way to get into the business of seeing your book in print. Whilst he is promoting his latest novel, which is in a limited edition print, he is releasing a copy soon as an e-book via Kindle. This new edition will include some additional story elements and other information about the book not available in the printed edition.
As a University Media student he has been brought up with emerging social media such as Facebook, twitter and You Tube. He uses these extensively to help promote his books.
He advocates that writing a good story alone is not enough and promotion - in whatever way it can be done is essential. He also strongly recommends getting a book professionally edited.
Ben was pleased with the turnout at this event and especially encouraged that many questions were asked.
